Department of Justice's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms

Our primary focus is on having our host families working with their respective pups to get them ready for evaluation and acceptance into the Department of Justice's elite detection dog program, which is run by their Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in Front Royal, VA.

ATF's canine program, which began in 1986 uses only Labrador Retrievers.  

ATF trained explosives detecting canines are routinely used at many special high profile events including each year's Super Bowl, the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, Presidential Inaugurations, the G-8 Summit, the World Series, and the Olympics. 

"Indie" and "Stryker" are our first two pups to be accepted into the ATF program.  "Indie" will be serving somewhere in the United States.

The State Department works in conjunction with ATF to provide ATF certified detection dogs to our Allies abroad.  "Stryker" will have the distinction of being our first pup to serve overseas, working side by side with our allies in Jordan. 

They will both graduate on 12/18/09, and of course our Alaska and Virginia host families will be attending that very special ceremony.
